Welcome to Dar Sultan – or The House of the Sultan.

And ‘sultanesque’ it is! A stay at this small and very refined guesthouse is a true journey to the atmosphere and feel of French-Moroccan ‘Arabia’. Restored by the craftsmen of Fes and Marrakech, you are surrounded by a superbe decoration of old objects and fountains.

The difference between a Riad and a Dar is that the latter, because of the climate, does not come with an open patio. In a Dar the patio is closed, giving it the warm feel of a lounge. 

Location

Dar Sultan is located at almost the highest point of the Medina, in a small alley in the Kasbah of Tangier at the side of the Souks. This means it is only a 2 minute walk to the gate, La Porte du Kasbah, and from there a 5 minute walk to the Souks. 

Amenities and Services

The original patio with its salons with fireplaces and its library are a nice spot for enjoying a book about Tangier, a mint tea or just relaxing.

On the roof, you will find a lovely terrace with views over the whole of Tangier and on clear days even the coast of Spain. If the weather allows it, your breakfast can be served on the roof terrace. Alternatively you can ask your breakfast to be served at the time that suits you most, in the lounge on the groundfloor of the patio.

The discrete and amiable service does not impose anything, but remains vigilant to make sure you will make the most of your stay.

Guests can be picked up from the Airport or Ferry Port. Also the guesthouse can offer you a garded parking spot at a few minutes walk.

Rooms and Rates

Spread over 3 floors, the 7 small yet cosy and traditional rooms give out on the patio. Each room is different, and comes with its own style and bathroom.

The entire Riad can be rented at 450 EUR per night – which can include accommodation for up to 12 guests sharing and is possible starting from a minimum of 3 Nights.

Our Opinion

A stay at Dar Sultan is just lovely. A very good basis for your long weekend or longer in Tangier , and especially ideal for first timers to Morocco.

Included
Rates quoted are based on 2 guests sharing and include breakfast and garded parking, as well as Airport Transfers if your stay is of 3 nights or more. Rates also include open bar (non alcoholic beverages) and VIP Welcome with pastry, fresh flowers and small gifts.

Booking Deposit
To secure the booking a 10% deposit will have to be paid by PayPal at the time of confirmation.

Balance
The 90% balance is due at the time of stay.

Financial Details
Guesthouse Dar Sultan will need your full credit card details. Your details will not be used, except in case of cancellations or No Shows, according to the following policy:

Cancellation Policy

1. Cancellations up to 22 days prior to arrival: Loss of deposit
2. Cancellations within 21 days prior to arrival: 100% of the full amount will be charged.

Confirmation
The detailed confirmation voucher will be sent by e-mail after payment by PAYPAL has been received.
